All about the 20 joule pellet rifle with magazine
If you are looking for a pellet rifle with a magazine, you may want to consider a CO2 or PCP model. These are usually equipped with a magazine as they allow you to shoot semi-automatically. More surprisingly, you can also look at some of the Gamo or Crosman air rifles. They are not equipped with a magazine, but with a cylinder that can store about ten rounds of ammunition. However, unlike CO2 or PCP rifles, it is necessary to lower the barrel between shots.
Air rifles with barrels
The air rifles that have a barrel are those of the brands: Gamo with the 10X system and Crosman with the Mag-Fire range.

To date, other brands such as Stoeger or Umarex have not yet designed an air rifle with a barrel or magazine.
Some exceptions for CO2 rifles
Although most CO2 models are equipped with a magazine, there are some that work in a different way. At the gun shop, this is the case with the Umarex Cowboy rifle, which is loaded with cartridges, the Artemis CP2, which has a 9-pellet cylinder, and the Umarex 850 M2 XT, which has an 8-pellet cylinder.
Reminder of the legislation on the 20 joule pellet rifle
The pellet rifle is freely available to adults when it is less than 20 joules. As soon as it exceeds this power, it moves from category D to category C. It is therefore considered more dangerous and it is therefore necessary to present various documents to buy it.
These documents are :
- identity card
- a valid hunting licence or shooting licence
- proof of address less than 3 months old
There are CO2 and PCP rifles with magazines of 20 joules or less.

Buy a pellet rifle with magazine under 20 joules
If you want to buy a rifle with a magazine, but do not have a shooting licence or hunting permit, you can look for a 19.9 joule model. They are just as powerful as the 20 joule models, but are less dangerous.

In any case, to be sure you are choosing the right pellet rifle, simply check the loading section in the specifications table on each product sheet. It tells you whether it is done by a cylinder, a magazine, by the barrel or otherwise.
