Formerly used in South America for hunting or in Japan to fight enemies, the blowgun allows to launch small projectiles thanks to the force of the breath. Nowadays practised in sports, it consists of an aluminium tube and a mouthpiece. To score the most points, simply place your projectiles as close as possible to the centre of the target. Surprisingly simple, the use of the blowgun also has beneficial effects on health. It encourages concentration, reduces stress, facilitates blood oxygenation and improves breathing.
In France, the sport blowgun was mainly practised in the mining regions of the Loire and the North. Almost disappeared in the North, it is still appreciated in the Saint-Etienne region.
